Out with King George
and
In with King Jesus
The American Revolution
Samuel Adams organized the Boston Tea Party,
he was Governor of
Massachusetts, a delegate to the Continental congress, and a signer of the
Declaration of Independence. Samuel Adams may rightly be called The father of
the American war for independence. Upon the signing of the Declaration of
Independence, it was Samuel Adams who said the Declaration of Independence made
Jesus Christ America's King. Our national song America, My country tis of Thee, it gives
a second witness. A continuing witness as to who is king in America. Can you
imagine how King George felt when those American 'rebels' used his very own tune
for a new national song? |

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the Pilgrims' pride,
From every mountain-side
Let Freedom ring. |
1. God save our gracious King,
Long live our noble King,
God save the King!
Send his victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us;
God save the King! |
My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,—
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills
Like that above |
2. O Lord our God arise,
Scatter his enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
Oh, save us all! |
Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake,
Let all that breathe partake,
Let rocks their silence break*,
The sound prolong. |
3. Thy choicest gifts in store
On him be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign;
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the King! |
Our fathers' God, to Thee,
Author of liberty**,
To Thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright
With Freedom's holy light***,
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King.

Luke 19:38-40
Saying, Blessed [be]
the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory
in the highest. 39 And some of the Pharisees from among the
multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he
answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their
peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
**Our fathers God. The fathers are Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob of the Bible.
2 Corinthians 3:17
"Now the Lord is
that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord [is], there [is] liberty."

4. Not in this land alone,
But be God's mercies known,
From shore to shore!
Lord make the nations see,
That men should brothers be,
And form one family,
The wide world over
5. From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the King!
O'er him thine arm extend,
For Britain's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the King |
